Shoppers flock to Boxing Day sales as Scots businesses set for bumper day
SHOPPERS are flocking to Boxing Day sales across Scotland as retailers are set to rake in some Christmas cash.
Major streets are packed with bargain-hunting Scots as businesses slash their prices.
Scores of shoppers packed out city streets and shopping centres as popular brands reduced price tags by up to 50 per cent.
Crowds of people all clutching shopping bags in the winter sunshine filled Glasgow‘s Buchanan Street as they enjoyed their half-price hauls.
Others raced to retail outlets to make the most of gift vouchers they got for Christmas.
Retailers are experiencing crowds flocking to shops this year, with health & beauty products particularly popular this year along with sports fashion.
It has been a massive day for hospitality businesses too, with restaurants and cafes packed out with hungry shoppers.
The shopping boom is a massive day for businesses across the country, with many set for a bumper day.
A spokesperson for Silverburn Shopping Centre said: “Our insights indicate guests are spreading the cost of Christmas and spending early.
“We have enjoyed a solid year, with guests responding positively to new brands and the continual enhancements we have made throughout the centre. We also witnessed a bumper Black Friday.
“Many of our stores have launched a fantastic range of pre-Christmas sales this year, helping guests secure some great last-minute bargains which was evident in recent days.”
Patrick Robbertze, Centre Director at The Centre, Livingston, said: “There’s a great buzz in The Centre, Livingston today as people are out and about enjoying the sales and treating themselves to something nice, many of them snapping up great bargains and heading out for some quality time in one of the many restaurants like Nando’s and Wagamama.”
