Son of Scottish gangster Jamie Daniel arrested in Norway after months ‘on run’
The son of notorious Scottish gangster Jamie Daniel has been arrested, after allegedly being on the run for two months.
Zander Sutherland was reported missing from a Dundee prison on April 11, after he failed to return from home leave. Police attempted to trace him, and issued a public appeal stating he was no threat.
On Tuesday he was found and arrested in Norway after an alleged 11 weeks on the run, repots the Daily Record.

The 35-year-old was caged for 13-and-a-half years back in 2015 for dealing heroin. Before his arrest in Norway, he had allegedly been on the run for 75 days.
Daniel Senior began his criminal career as a car and scrap metal dealer in Possilpark, Glasgow, before his gang waged a murderous drugs war in Glasgow with the Lyons family.

He then died in July 2016, after a four-year cancer battle and Sutherland was allowed out of jail to attend his dad’s funeral. Sutherland helped carry the coffin while flanked by prison guards.
Following his dad’s death, Sutherland was attacked behind bars and went on to hire two Estonian murderers for protection while in Low Moss prison.
Concerns were then raised in 2020 that the Daniels and Lyons war could escalate in jail so the Scottish Prison Service (SPS) tried to keep all of Sutherland’s associates in Saughton Prison to avoid conflict.

But the move backfired when the SPS noticed the Daniels gang had too much influence inside the jail and they were moved to other prisons.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “On Tuesday, June 25, 2024 a 35-year-old man was arrested in connection with an outstanding warrant in Norway.
“Officers from Police Scotland are continuing to liaise with relevant authorities regarding his extradition.”
