Star of iconic long-running TV series filming new thriller in Scotland this week
A TV star from an iconic long-running series is set to be in Scotland this week.
Fans will get a chance to spot the actor as he films a new drama around Glasgow this week.
The star will be shooting scenes in the city over the coming days.
He is filming for ITV‘s new thriller Cold Water on July 10 and 11.
The series is set in the fictional Scottish village of Coldwater and follows an everyday man who ends up in a far-from-normal situation after swapping life in London for the rural setting.
The main character John is played by none other than The Walking Dead star Andrew Lincoln.
Telly fans will be used to the Brit actor taking on hordes of the undead as Deputy Sheriff Rick Grimes in the popular horror show.
Lincoln, 50, played the gun-toting zombie slayer for nine seasons of the AMC drama before departing the show in 2019.
But he wowed fans in the last ever episode of the post-apocalyptic drama by returning and is continuing Rick’s story with on-screen wife Michonne (Danai Gurira) in spin-off series The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live.
But his new ITV role will see Lincoln portray middle-aged John, who is secretly raging at his life as a stay-at-home dad.
When he flees the capital for a quieter life, he meets next-door neighbour Tommy – played by Trainspotting legend Ewen Bremner.
A description for the show reads: “John remains blissfully unaware that Tommy is harbouring horrifying secrets, and it’s only after a series of unsettling incidents start to occur that John begins to wonder who the real Tommy actually is.
“And when John’s long-repressed rage comes to a head with disastrous results, he soon finds himself unexpectedly indebted to his new friend.
“This is the story of a normal man, in a normal marriage, who finds himself in a far-from-normal situation.
“A man who discovers a newfound sense of his own power, right at the moment he falls under the influence of someone incredibly dangerous.”
Several roads in Glasgow‘s Dennistoun have been closed off as TV crews film scenes for the new thriller.
The show’s creator, David Ireland, promised viewers the story would be “intoxicating”.
He said: “Cold Water started with a question I was asking myself. Where do I want to live – the countryside or the city?
“Such an innocent beginning, but from it came this dark, funny, twisted thriller.
“I was delighted when Sister loved the script and thrilled when ITV decided to commission it. And I’m amazed we’ve managed to attract such a peerless cast, led by the formidable Andrew Lincoln. I hope viewers will find it intoxicating.”

ITV Head of Drama Polly Hill added: “We are very excited for ITV to be the home for this brilliant new thriller exploring masculinity, religion and ultimately murder.
“David’s scripts are wonderful, and original and have attracted an incredible cast led by Andrew Lincoln. It promises to be a really unmissable drama and I am delighted to be working with Jane Featherstone again and her brilliant team at Sister.”
