Stingrays Sign Rookie Goaltender for 2024-25 Season
The South Carolina Stingrays added a goaltender to their roster with the signing of rookie Seth Eisele to an ECHL contract for the 2024-25 season.
Eisele, 25, spent last season with the University of Nebraska Omaha, posting a 4-1-1 record, 2.19 goals-against average and .919 save percentage in six games during his lone season with the school. He helped the Mavericks finish 12th in the nation and qualify for the NCAA Division I National Tournament.
Prior to playing at UNO, the Lake Elmo, Minnesota native spent the previous four seasons at Lake Superior State University, appearing in 34 games with a save percentage above .900 each season.
For his collegiate career, Eisele posted a .912 save percentage and 2.74 GAA. He was looking for a club that would give him an opportunity to show what he can do, and believes the Stingrays are an ideal place for his skills.
“After talking to a few teams, I thought South Carolina was a perfect fit,” he said following his signing. “I’m excited about the upcoming season and can’t wait to get going.”
Nebraska Omaha’s goalie coach, Peter Aubry, is acquainted with Stingrays head coach and director of hockey operations Jared Nightingale. The two previously worked together while Nightingale was an assistant with the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs. Aubry spoke highly of Eisele and convinced Nightingale he had great potential.
“I talked to Seth over the phone, and he is hungry and willing to help the team in any way he can,” said Nightingale, who is beginning his first season as the Stingrays bench boss. “We all know that goaltending is really important and you can’t have enough depth there. I’m really looking forward to seeing Seth take this opportunity by the horns.”
