Store dubbed ‘mini IKEA’ to open three Scots locations – check your nearest shop

A BARGAIN retailer dubbed “mini IKEA” is set to open three brand new stores across Scotland.

The Danish chain offers an assortment of Scandi inspired homeware, soft furnishings, kitchen products, furniture and much more.

Søstrene Grene has more than 275 stores worldwide.

The first Scottish site opened in the St Enoch Centre in Glasgow in December 2022.

Three more are now planned to open across the country.

Although the dates the new stores will open is unknown a list of their locations has emerged.

Sostrene Grene will feature in the Bon Accord Shopping Centre in Aberdeen, Buchanan Street in Glasgow and Waverly Market in Edinburgh.

Mikkel Grene, CEO and co-owner of Søstrene Grene said: “We are really excited to continue the roll out of our ‘Retail for the Senses’ store design.

“Not only do we want our customers to enjoy our fantastic selection of products, but we also look to provide a shopping experience that offers a moment of calm and relaxation.”

The Danish retailer chain was founded in 1973 by husband and wife Inger Grene and Knud Cresten Vaupell Olsen.

Like IKEA, the shop sells homeware and furniture designed in a typical Scandinavian fashion.

It stocks a wide range of homeware, furniture, kitchen products, season decorations, gifting and craft pieces all for customers to get their hands on.

The store demonstrates the Danish concept of “hygge” through instore experiences and comforting products.

Hygge is the quality of cosiness and contentment and is a key element of the Danish lifestyle.
