Tartan Army chief creates unique Scotland Lederhosen outfit to wear in Germany
A Tartan Army diehard has made his own unique collection of Scotland Lederhosen to wear with his pals in Germany.
Chris ‘Gibbo’ Gibson, 48, will rock a completely new look when he heads to the Euros, combining the traditional Bavarian outfit with the dark blue of the national team.
His very own Tartan Army Ledershosen are set to make their mark on the tournament. The dungarees-style dress wear, are dedicated to the North East Tartan Army, which Chris, from Peterhead founded in 2016.
The unique Lederhosen feature the North East Tartan Army badge, with the words “Kein Schottland, keine Party,” emblazoned across the chest strap, which translates to the famous Tartan Army’s chant, “No Scotland, no Party.”
Chris has told how 20 of his mates have been brave enough to pack the Lederhosen which they plan on wearing as their ‘leisurewear’ during the trip.
Chris told the Record: “We’ve got 100 odd members, and we’ve got about 20 of us who will have the Lederhosen on, not everyone’s brave enough to wear it.
“As soon as Scotland qualified I thought we need to get them made.
“The original ones are leather which wouldn’t be ideal for sitting around the sun in.
“These are lightweight, which are perfect for the beer gardens, with a stein in hand.
“We’ll be sticking to our kilts on matchday’s, but we’ve got a booze cruise planned along the Rhien in Colgone on June 18, we’ll be wearing them then, and in between games, they are the perfect leisurewear.”
Chris has told how he searched through the internet looking for the perfect adaptable Lederhosen.
After widening his search he clocked Lederhosen for the NFL team the Seattle Seahawks, which he then ordered and got to work adapting them.
Chris, who is a builder and a foster carer added: “There’s a lady up here who does all our embroidery stuff and she rebranded them for us.
“It took a few attempts to get them right, we got Kein spelt wrong at first so had to take them back.”
Chris has already debuted the Lederhosen in Munich when he took part in Tennent’s epic Race to Germany.
Chris and fellow North East Tartan Army member, Ewan Oman, took part in the dash across Europe.
But Chris has told how their Euros dress rehearsal didn’t quite go to plan for Ewan.

He joked: “We got some funny looks running through the streets wearing a slightly different look to what the locals are used to.
“I loved wearing them but Ewan had to ditch his, they weren’t too comfortable for running and he’s a big lad.
“The sizes only went up to an XL so some of the boys might find them a tight squeeze.”
The Scots-Lederhosen comes after the Tartan Army look set to embrace Bavarian culture following John McGinn’s hilarious video taking part in a traditional dance.
Chris who has a signed tattoo of McGinn, added: “The video was brilliant, I’ve watched it about six times now.
“We’re not going to be wearing the same hats, but the Lederhosen is more than enough!”
