Taylor Wimpey West Scotland staff teach school pupils about health and safety
Taylor Wimpey West Scotland staff returned to school to remind the children at Riverbank Primary in Carnbroe about health and safety.
Construction at the house builder’s development of new homes at nearby Calder Wynd is well underway.
And now that the show homes are open, the firm was keen to promote the dangers of playing near any construction site.

The visit also allowed Taylor Wimpey to raise awareness of the pupils’ need to be extra vigilant as the building of its new homes progresses, especially as the school summer holidays are just starting.
Being proactive with local schools has proven an effective deterrent in the past, as Deryck Schendel, regional health and safety advisor for Taylor Wimpey in Scotland, explained: “Health and safety in and around our construction areas is of vital importance to Taylor Wimpey.
“Taking this type of proactive approach with local schools allows us to reinforce just how important it is for children to stay away from building sites, and it gives us the chance to remind the children that building sites are not playgrounds!”
Helen Paterson, head teacher at Riverbank Primary School, added: “I was delighted to welcome Deryck from Taylor Wimpey West Scotland into our school to highlight the dangers associated with children playing near any construction site.
“It’s great that Taylor Wimpey understands the importance of our children’s safety and has created an interactive and proactive approach to appeal to our pupils.
“Following Taylor Wimpey’s presentation, the children have been tasked with creating health and safety posters that will be considered for display at the development to remind those in the wider local community never to play near a live construction site.”
