The five Scottish hotels named among the best places to stay in the world
FIVE Scottish hotels have been named among the top one per cent of the ‘perfect’ places to stay in the world.
Online booking giant Hotels.com included them in their inaugural list of the best of the best based on how the hotels treat their guests.
The ‘Perfect Somewheres’ are 700 hotels around the world whose staff are said to go ‘above and beyond’
Hotels.com describe them as ‘awards to recognise and celebrate the hotels where the little details make a big difference.
‘This is more than just another “best of” list—these are the places that go out of their way to make a good stay a perfect stay. Our favourite hotels. Your reasons to get away.’
Winning hotels were selected based on guest experience data, which factored in traveller reviews, interactions with staff and ratings on property facilities and condition.
Luxury floating hotel Fingal in Edinburgh was one of the five Scottish hotels to make the finals.
Judges said: “ If it’s a stay like no other you are looking for, then the Fingal is the place to be.
“This totally unique floating hotel is docked on Edinburgh’s waterfront where travellers can experience complete nautical luxury.” Rooms from £375 a night on Hotels.com
Staying in the capital, the Balmoral Hotel was also included. Hotels.com described it as ‘ a historic Edinburgh icon’.
They added: “During your stay, you can enjoy top-notch dining, French-Scottish bistro fare, award-winning afternoon tea and a serene experience in the spa in one of the most majestic spots in the city.” Rooms from £550 a night.
Glasgow’s eclectic Dakota Hotel also made the list. Judges said: “Located in the city centre, this effortlessly chic hotel is ideal for exploring the city.
“There is something for everyone at this hotel, with packages for “Steaks in the City” to “Date Night” to “Lazy Sunday” packages, it’s a stay you can’t resist.” Costs from £135 per night.
Motel One, also in Glasgow, was named among the best thanks to it’s fabulous service from super-friendly staff.
Hotels.com said: “This hotel is in a great central location as it’s just a 15-minute walk away from Buchanan Street and George Square and five minutes from the OVO Hydro for those heading for a gig.
“Sit back and relax with a drink or grab a bite to eat in the stunning bar.” Rooms from £69.
Back in Edinburgh and just a stone’s throw from the Royal Mile you’ll find Cheval Old Town Chambers, making up the top five.
It consists of 74 luxury serviced apartments in a 15th century townhouse, each one completely unique in its design. Apartments from £402 per night.
