The Rangers Cal Clutterbuck Conundrum

It’s neither sinful nor unheard of for an NHL player to skate for both the Islanders and Rangers, or vice versa.

Arnie Brown did it. So did Beezer and so on. Therefore it’s not impossible to imagine free agent Cal Clutterbuck wearing a blue shirt.

That would depend on GM Chris Drury believing that the closest stickhandler to match the toughness, skills and experience of excited Barclay Goodrow is not in the Rangers lineup now.

And can you see Clutterbuck, Reilly Smith and Matt Rempe as a “Bulldozer Line?” (I can dream, can’t I?)

The other part of the equation would be Cal’s wanting to play more hockey for what once was his eternal ice enemy.

Then again, since MSG checks don’t bounce and Clutterbuck could use another buck or three, why not?

Ah, yes, the “NOT” could be – pick one, please – Brennan Othmann, Gabe Perreault or any other good kid to emerge from the Rangers Rookie Ice Works.

This much I can assure you, any team that signs Clutterbuck will get its moneysworth in hustle and muscle!
