The ‘spectacular’ Scottish loch hotel two people can stay in for less than £80

A Scottish loch-side hotel that has been described as “spectacular” can currently be booked for less than £80 for two.

With temperatures in Scotland set to soar in the coming days, it is a reminder that summer is closer than you might think. While time is running out to snatch a bargain holiday, there are luckily still plenty of hotels you can book for discounted rates — if you know where to look.

One of these is The Onich Hotel between the Glencoe and Ben Nevis Mountain ranges. Tucked along the eastern shore of Loch Linnhe, the family-run hotel is the ideal base for those looking to immerse themselves in Scotland’s natural beauty this summer.

At the moment, an overnight stay for two at the hotel is available for £79 through voucher website Wowcher — a 61 per cent discount from the standard price of £204.90. Meanwhile, a dinner at its restaurant can be added to the deal for an overall cost of £119.

Every room at The Onich Hotel come with an en-suite bathroom, a flatscreen TV, Wi-Fi, and tea and coffee-making facilities. Meanwhile, all deals also include a traditional full Scottish breakfast and a late 12pm checkout.

For those eating at the hotel’s Lochside Bar and Restaurant, there are a diverse range of dishes to enjoy while taking in the views out across Loch Linnhe. Some of the highlights of the restaurant’s dinner menu are herb crust salmon fillet, king prawn curry, fish and chips, and vegetable lasagne.

Looking at travel website Tripadvisor, The Onich Hotel has an average rating of 3.5 out of five based on 1,070 reviews.

One recent visitor wrote: “Small but comfy room — would pay more and select a rear room away from the road next time though. Great clothes drying room — very welcome after a long cycle! Breakfast was great. Manager very helpful.”

A second agreed: “We would recommend this hotel highly. The views are spectacular and the staff were friendly and very helpful. We ate in the restaurant and we all enjoyed what we had to eat.”

On the other hand, a less positive review reads: “Although it appears the hotel has had some refurbishment in the public rooms, my room and the corridors and staircase were rather scruffy with old furniture.”

Further information and booking details can be found on the Wowcher website. Meanwhile, if you are looking for a holiday off of the mainland, Scotland’s “greatest” islands have just been crowned.
