Transport Scotland to establish new £45M ground investigation framework | Ground Engineering

Transport Scotland has identified a need for ground investigation works of varying scope and complexity to support the development and delivery of infrastructure projects across Scotland.

In a recent contract notice, it confirmed that the works will be mainly linked to trunk road network upgrading and maintenance schemes.

The agency is thus seeking to establish a multi-supplier framework agreement with several “suitably experienced” ground investigation contractors.

The agreement is divided into two lots based on the value of the individual ground investigation call-off contracts. It is intended to last for four years.

The first lot, estimated at £5M, is for works less than £500,000 in value. The second lot, worth £40M, covers works in excess of £500,000.

Transport Scotland expects the framework to include a maximum of 10 participants.

According to the contract notice, the framework contractors will be procured through a restricted procedure, under the Public Contracts (Scotland) Regulations 2015. Transport Scotland will manage the procurement process on behalf of the Scottish Ministers.

The process involves a prequalification and a tender stage. The conditions of contract are likely to be Infrastructure Conditions of Contract (ICC).

The deadline for submitting tenders is 18 April.
