An Ayr diner can now proudly add the title of ‘Scotland’s best burger’ to their name.

Nanny Mary’s scooped the prestigious award at The Scottish Entertainment & Hospitality Awards last week.

The popular eaterie – which serves up stacked burgers, loaded fries, milkshakes and waffles, pancakes and crepes – were also selected as finalists in the ‘Best Family Venue’ category at the awards, held in Glasgow.

Staff shared of a “turmoil of emotions” as the restaurant, on Smith Street, was announced as boasting the best burger in the country following a team of judges travelling the country trying and testing every finalist.

And they praised the “outstanding” support from the community in bringing home the trophy for Ayr.

A post on their Facebook page read: “As we were enjoying our staff night out, we heard it… ‘And the Winner for Best Burger in Scotland is, Nanny Marys’.
