Two men dead after vehicle leaves road and plunges into water

Two men have died after their vehicle left the road and plunged into water on the A87.

Emergency services were called to the road after 8am near the Invergarry Hotel on Friday morning where two men, aged 27 and 31, were pronounced dead.

The A87 has been closed in both directions at Invermoriston and Spean Bridge for the A82 and at Invergarry and Bun Loyne for the A87.

Traffic Scotland has urged drivers to use diversion routes signposted.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Emergency services are in attendance after a vehicle left the road and entered the water off the A87.

“Two men, aged 27 and 31, were pronounced dead at the scene.

“Their next of kin are aware and are being supported by police.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”

A Traffic Scotland post read: “The A87 Invergarry is closed in both directions between Bun Loyne and Invergarry due to a road traffic incident.

“Road users are advised to use signed diversion route and expect longer than normal journey times.”

The Scottish Ambulance Service have been contacted for comment.
