Uniqlo announces plans to open first ever store in Scotland next year

Popular Japanese clothing brand Uniqlo has today announced plans to open up its first ever Scottish store in Edinburgh next year.

The global apparel retailer, which produces clothing and accessories for women, men and children, has confirmed that the store will open up on the busy Princes Street – and it has already opened up recruitment. Uniqlo’s products often go viral in the UK, including the brand’s sell-out £14.90 bags.

Set to open in spring 2024, the store will have a sales floor of approximately 1,430 sq meters, spread across two levels. Shoppers will be able to find the brand’s high quality LifeWear clothing that has become universally appealing in design and comfort.

Alessandro Dudech, COO of UNIQLO U.K, said of the new store: “We are excited to take this next big step in the U.K.’s expansion plans with the Edinburgh store opening in Spring 2024.

“It’s an honour to be opening in not only a new city but a new country, Edinburgh is a city of great cultural and historical heritage, we have many existing Scottish customers who shop through our e-commerce site, and Edinburgh has such a strong footfall from both locals and tourists. UNIQLO is proud to be expanding our presence in this important retail location, we look forward to bringing LifeWear to Scotland in 2024.”

Currently operating 17 stores across the UK, the Japanese retailer has been ramping up its UK expansion plans, which included opening up its Covent Garden store in April this year.

The new Edinburgh store will open alongside another store on London’s One Oxford Street, also set for spring 2024, which means that the brand will operate a total of 19 UK stores overall.

While details of the new store and its promotional campaign will be released at a later date, the brand has invited its fans to share their excitement via the company’s social media channels including Facebook, X, Instagram and TikTok using #UniqloEdinburgh.

The brand has opened up recruitment for its Edinburgh store, with more information on roles available on the Uniqlo website.

From sandals to mules, slingbacks to loafers, Dr Martens has got you covered. Now their classic Virginia Leather Mary Janes which need ‘no breaking in’ are reduced by a whopping £42 in the DM sale – and shoppers have hailed these particular pair of Dr Marten shoes as “quite possibly the most comfortable Mary Jane shoes ever”.

The 8065 Mary Jane Virginia Leather Shoes are reduced by 30 percent on the Dr Martens website whilst high street retailer Schuch is offering up to 30 percent off various summer styles.

Dr Martens Mary Janes is crafted with soft, fine-grain leather shoe designed to be smooth and supple. Perhaps that’s what prompted one reviewer to say these shoes require “no breaking in needed” at all.

Available in three colours, black, muted olive and savannah tan, these MJ’s can be dressed up or down, worn with jeans skirts and dresses, with or without socks.
