Police investigating a robbery in Inverness have appealed for witnesses after cordoning off a street in the city centre.
Passers-by on their way to work on Friday morning had been surprised to find Lombard Street cordoned off and police at the scene, although the reason for their presence was not immediately known.
However, Police Scotland have now confirmed that the cordon was erected in response to an ongoing investigation into the robbery of two men “in the Baron Taylor Street area” in the early hours of this morning.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1.10am on Friday, police received a report of the robbery of two men, in the Baron Taylor Street area of Inverness. Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
“Anyone with information should contact police on 101, quoting incident 0183 of 17 May, 2024. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, if you wish to remain anonymous.”
The cordoned off section of Lombard Street is outside the Oxfam shop and the Sushiness takeaway, adjacent to the High Street.
