Utah’s First Game Features Connor Bedard Michigan Attempt
It was an entertaining first night in Utah as Connor Bedard and the Chicago Blackhawks are the first opposing team to get to experience regular season hockey there.
Unfortunately for the Blackhawks, Utah came away with the two points in their NHL debut, but not without sparks and a big pushback. This included a Michigan attempt by one of the league’s young superstars.
Bedard and the Blackhawks were down by one goal nearly halfway through the third period and the push was on to tie the game. With three defenders covering the front of the net and cutting Bedard off, he attempted the Michigan from behind the net and came close to tying the game.
Ultimately, Utah was able to hold off the Blackhawks and Bedard despite two points from the talented young center.
Bedard’s quick thinking almost got him a goal and third point of the opening night. He was flying out there and looked like the Blackhawks’ best player. That should be the case for most nights this season as he is already establishing himself as one of the top talents in the league.
The transition from year one to two is a big one and Bedard is starting off on the right foot. His confidence and skill to almost pull this off while trailing in the third period of the opening game of the season just shows what kind of mentality he has come into the season with.
I don’t expect this to be the last Michigan attempt by Bedard this season or in his career. Defenders are good at blocking passing lanes and goalies aren’t usually expecting a player from behind the net to score in this manner.

Sometimes superstars have to put the team on their backs and this is what Bedard tried to do. It won’t be the last time he does this or attempts the Michigan either.
