Watch: President Macron confronted by prankster who also got on Olympic closing ceremony stage

Security concerns over the protection of Emmanuel Macron have been raised after notorious prankster Daniel Jarvis was able to take a selfie with the French president at the Stade de France during Sunday’s closing ceremony of the Paris Olympics.

The photo was posted on X by Jarvis – known commonly as ‘Jarvo69’ – along with a video of him walking among athletes on the stage erected in the middle of the stadium, wearing the same outfit as the members of Team GB who attended the ceremony.

The caption of the video post read: “Yes, I blagged my way into the Olympics closing ceremony, dressed as a @‌TeamGB athlete! I miss the Olympic[s].”

Jarvis gathered a significant six-figure following as a YouTuber before coming to prominence as a pitch invader during an England cricket Test match against India in 2021.

Jarvis, masquerading as a fielder, reached the non-striker’s end, and then bowled a ball – which he had also brought onto the outfield – before colliding with England wicketkeeper Jonny Bairstow.

He also successfully invaded the field at Lord’s and Headingley Test matches that same summer and was led off the field by security at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai after disrupting India’s 2023 Cricket World Cup opener against Australia.

In court the following year, it was revealed that Jarvis had hidden in a toilet before seizing his chance to dart onto the field of play. Jarvis was found guilty of aggravated trespass.

Other sports have also fallen victim to Jarvis’s tomfoolery. In October last year, he got onto the pitch at the Stade de France after the Rugby World Cup final and was pictured celebrating alongside Faf de Klerk, Cheslin Kolbe, Bongi Mbonambi, and Franco Mostert.

However, Jarvis does not limit himself to pitch invading. Last year, he claimed responsibility after ‘sex noises’ were played over Gary Lineker during BBC coverage of an FA Cup tie between Liverpool and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
