An upbeat Steve Clarke wants Scotland to set off for the Euros with a feelgood victory over Finland but insists his full focus is on getting the team in shape for the tournament opener against hosts Germany.

The head coach is sure the Finns will come to Hampden in “party-pooper” mode for Friday’s friendly, one week before Scotland kick-off in Munich.

“We’d love to finish with a win because that sends everyone away happy,” said Clarke before outlining his priorities: “A good performance, no injuries and ready to go for the game that matters.”

Clarke is promising a “more familiar” line-up in Glasgow, following Monday’s 2-0 win over Gibraltar.

Scotland broke a run of seven games without a win but the laboured display attracted some criticism, which perplexes Clarke.

“Any time I read a snippet from someone who wants to be a negative Norman, I just dismiss it,” he said.

“What is there to be negative about? We’re going into another major tournament. The squad is in a good place. We’re all determined to do as well as we can for our country.

“Why not just relax and enjoy it? That’s what we’re going to try and do. Let’s get behind them and give them a real chance.”
