WWE Clash At The Castle: Scottish Warrior Drew McIntyre title shot confirmed for Glasgow

World Heavyweight Champion Damien Priest (L) defends his title against Drew McIntyre (R) in Glasgow

Continuing an unprecedented year for WWE Premium Live events outside the US, Clash At The Castle takes place in Glasgow on Saturday, June 15.

For fans travelling to Scotland, the event just got even more exciting as it was confirmed that local boy Drew McIntyre has been medically cleared for action and will be wrestling Damien Priest for the World Heavyweight Championship.

This year’s Wrestlemania saw McIntyre take the title from Seth “Freakin” Rollins only to lose it a five minutes, 46 seconds later to Priest in a thrilling Money in the Bank cash-in. The Scottish Warrior was forced to put his revenge on the back burner for a few weeks following an elbow injury, but now he’s back – and the timing couldn’t be any better!

Originally hailing from Ayrshire, not far from Glasgow, McIntyre has been putting in some of the very best work of his career recently, with masterful character development and a series of blistering confrontations with the polarising CM Punk – and pretty much anyone else who’s been foolish enough to try and stand between the 6’5″ Scotsman and a title belt.

McIntyre famously held the WWE’s championship during the pandemic, when he beat Brock Lesner at Wrestlemania 36 with no audience. Since then, he’s been on a campaign to win in front of fans, which he finally managed at Wrestlemania XL before being humiliated, first by CM Punk and then by Priest’s cruel cash-in.

Clash At The Castle will be the first ever WWE Premium Live Event to take place in Scotland, broadcast live to approx 165 countries around the world. In 2022, Clash At The Castle came to Cardiff as WWE’s first major UK stadium event in 30 years. The show attracted over 62,000 people to buy tickets, with over three quarters of the audience coming from outside Wales. In total, the event channelled £21.8 million back into the Welsh economy.

WWE Clash At The Castle will stream live on Saturday, June 15, at 7PM BST on Peacock in the United States and on WWE Network everywhere else.
