WWE star and World’s Strongest Man’s surprise visit to Scots gym
A WWE star and the World’s Strongest Man gave fitness fanatics a treat this week when they popped in for a workout at a Scots gym.
Wrestling star Drew McIntyre and World’s Strongest Man Tom Stoltman both nipped in to Muscle Lab Gym in Paisley to pump some iron in a double surprise visit.
McIntyre, 39, now lives in Nashville, Tennessee, but was back in his home country for the Clash of the Castle event, against Damien Priest for the World Heavyweight Championship at Glasgow’s Hydro this weekend.
But in the build up to the main event Drew, who is from Ayr, managed to get in some vital training on Thursday night at Muscle Lab Gym to the delight to the gym’s 400-plus members.
The following day fitness fans welcomed another high-profile visitor when Highlands heavyweight Tom Stoltman popped into work out.
The World’s Strongest Man, who hails from Invergordon, showed gym-goers his raw strength by lifting 60KG – more than 9st 4lbs.
Gym owner Chris Strathearn said: “Tom came straight in, had no breakfast and warmed up on the 60kg dumbells for reps no issues.
“Drew was just coming back from surgery after he damaged his elbow at Wrestlemania but still managed 50kg dumbells shoulder press with no issues.
“We have had some other high profile people visit the gym recently, including Dorian Yates and Wesley Vissers, but this was a great week.”
McIntyre signed posed for pictures with fans and signed the gym’s wall of fame whilst Stoltman signed an Atlas Stone.
Chris added: “They were really nice and chatted with people and gave autographs. Drew gave us a WWE belt so that was pretty amazing too. It was a great thing to have them visit the gym.”
Drew also visited his beloved Ibrox on Thursday where he was inducted into the Scottish Wrestling Hall of Fame.
McIntyre was given a brand new Rangers away kit by the club, and he couldn’t hide his delight as he walked down the tunnel and out onto the pitch at Ibrox.
