Yankees acquire minor league outfielder Cam Eden from Blue Jays

The Yankees announced the acquisition of minor league outfielder Cam Eden from the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for cash considerations.

Eden has appeared in 91 games at Triple-A this season, with 10 doubles, two triples, seven home runs and 35 RBI. He has slashed .198/.299/.322 for a .620 OPS and .287 weighted on-base average.

In 222 games at Triple-A over this year and last, Eden has a .232 average and .668 OPS.

He has 26 stolen bases on 33 attempts this year and swiped 153 bags with an 88.4 percent success rate over 420 career minor league games. And this could be Eden’s path to the Yanks as a postseason option on the basepaths.

The 26-year-old can play all three outfield positions, with the bulk of his time coming at center field during the past two seasons with Triple-A Buffalo.

Eden made his MLB debut in 2023, appearing in five games with the Blue Jays collecting one hit in six at-bats with two strikeouts.

While the MLB trade deadline was July 30, players who are signed to a minor league contract, have not been on the 40-man roster at any point this season and have not been on the MLB injured list are still allowed to be traded.
