Yankees call up star prospect Jasson Dominguez, who will play ‘just about every day’
The Martian has landed at Yankee Stadium.
The Yankees announced the following roster moves on Monday afternoon:
• Recalled OF Jasson Dominguez from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre
• Returned INF Jon Berti from his rehab assignment and reinstated him from the 60-day injured list
• Placed INF DJ LeMahieu on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to Sept. 6) with a right hip impingement
• Designated LHP Anthony Misiewicz for assignment
According to SNY MLB Insider Andy Martino, Dominguez is “here to play just about every day.”
The Bombers are back in the Bronx for seven games, starting with a three-game set against Kansas City that begins on Monday night.
Just this past Friday, general manager Brian Cashman told reporters that Alex Verdugo – not Dominguez – gives the Yankees the best chance to win right now as the team’s starting left fielder.
“If he comes (to the big leagues), he’s got to play every day,” Cashman said about Dominguez.
Dominguez, one of the top prospects in all of baseball, has had a tremendous season in the minors as he’s bounced back from 2023 Tommy John surgery. In 58 minor league games, Dominguez has slashed .314/.376/.504 with 11 home runs and 35 RBI.
Meanwhile, it’s been a season to forget for LeMahieu, who started the season on the IL with a fracture in his foot and is hitting just .204 in 201 at-bats.
