Yankees’ Jasson Dominguez appointed 27th man, in lineup for Sunday’s matchup with Tigers
The Yankees are set to take on the Detroit Tigers on Sunday Night as part of the Little League Classic from Williamsport, PA, and they’ll have a very intriguing name in the lineup in star prospect Jasson Dominguez.
Dominguez is officially the 27th man for the Yankees, as both teams are allowed an extra roster spot given the same-day travel for the game.
The 21-year-old Dominguez is listed as the No. 17 overall prospect in baseball, and the No. 1 player in the Yankees’ system.
Dominguez, who appeared in eight games with the Yankees at the tail end of last season, has been limited to 40 games this season after recovering from Tommy John surgery and then suffering a significant oblique strain. Overall, Dominguez is slashing .298/.365/.477 with seven home runs and 23 RBI this season.
Dominguez will play left field and bat fifth on Sunday night against the Tigers.
